BMW has been pushing its branding recently with a TV ad campaign that emphasises 'joy' and has certainly got the attention of the public, if only for its faintly irritating message and archaic style. However, BMW remains a highly respected, sought-after marque and the latest line-up of cars to roll off its production line are as appealing as ever. If you are thinking of buying one of the new BMW range and are starting to think about car insurance quotes then have a quick look over these outlines of the line-up.
BMW 1 Series
The BMW 1 Series is available as a 3-door, 5-door, coupe or convertible in 2009/10 and despite its mediocre reception when it was introduced back in 2004, it has built a following as the most compact car created by this prestigious company. The car insurance groups for the 1 Series range from 10 for the 1.6 litre petrol engine right up to 17 for one of the M-series cars which put power and performance way ahead of running costs and efficiency. The diesel models are particularly popular, with the 2 litre diesel models falling into insurance group 14.
BMW 3 Series
The eternally-popular 3 Series BMW is also available in a variety of shapes and configurations, with the saloon the most enduring choice amongst buyers. With engines ranging from a 1.6 litre right up to a 3.5 litre diesel unit, the insurance groups range from 12 up to 18 for the most desirable, performance models. M Sport editions with smaller engines manage to retain the performance credentials without breaking into the higher brackets, with group 13 for 1.8 M Sport models available.
BMW 5 Series
An update to the saloon version of the 5 Series line-up of executive, full-sized saloon cars from BMW has just been released. The 2 litre diesel engine version is going to be the easiest on the wallet in terms of petrol and car insurance, although the 2.3 litre petrol engine is not too far ahead. If you opt for the top of the range 5 litre petrol engine version then you are pushing into insurance group 20.
BMW 6 Series
The coupe and convertible version of the 6 Series fall into fairly similar insurance groups, with 18 the minimum for the 3 litre version and 19 for the 3.5 litre automatic diesel version. Perhaps the most outlandish of the current generation of BMW cars, the 6 series looks like nothing else on the road and could become a design classic in coming years.
BMW 7 Series
After getting a facelift in 2008, all 7 Series saloons fall into either group 19 or 20 given their large engines, expensive starting price and impressive reputation. The 3 litre diesel version is the most frugal of the bunch and for a diesel the car has all the refinement you would expect from the ultimate luxury saloon.
BMW X Series
With a whole heap of off-road vehicles to choose from, your budget should be your main concern. The BMW X5 still offers the best all-round performance and the 3 litre model falls into group 17 for car insurance purposes. If you are looking for even cheaper thrills, the new X1 range, which has a group 12 1.8 litre edition on offer, is perhaps your best bet. With any of these cars getting car insurance quotes which match your expectation can only be achieved by comparing prices.
