Best Car Insurance For Vauxhall Insignia
Vauxhall Insignia Overview
For many years the Vauxhall Vectra has been a favourite with fleet managers as a solid workhorse - getting the job done relatively inexpensively, and with the right degree of reliability. The problem was that Vauxhall needed to sell it to private owners as well as fleet managers, and unfortunately the Vectra just did not appeal enough to the people who Vauxhall needed to buy the car. Vauxhall have decided to attack the problem by introducing a replacement for the Vauxhall Vectra.
The Vauxhall Insignia is a far more stylish looking car which Vauxhall hope will tempt more private owners. The Vauxhall Insignia is more spacious and has a much improved engine range. It also has the option of four wheel drive, which may increase the appeal. There are five engines on offer with the new Insignia, beginning with a 1.8 litre ECOTEC unit, and then jumping to a two litre turbocharged version. The range of petrol engines is completed by a 2.8 V6.
There are also two new diesel engines, producing either 130 or 160PS. The Vauxhall Insignia also comes in either a two or four wheel drive, using an all wheel drive adaptive system from Saab.
Drivers can choose from a number of chassis settings at the touch of a button, with Vauxhall's FlexiRide system. Standards drive is available, but in addition once the button has been pressed you can either experience a relaxed tour setting or a sport setting which firms up the suspension. The Sport drive system is worth trying with its speedier throttle response, stiff dampening and sharper steering. This system also increases the rpm by shifting the switch point and adjusting the four by four systems to provide more rear wheel drive. These are features which its competitors may find hard to beat, initially. Larger exterior dimensions and an extended wheel base produces improve passenger space, while ergonomically designed seats and a dashboard top which wraps around the driver gives the feeling of being cocooned.
The Vauxhall Insignia range starts at the 'S' level, which is likely to be aimed at the fleet market. Vauxhall will be hoping that the 'Exclusiv' part of the range will attract private drivers with its high specifications which include stability control, automatic headlamps, cruise control, ABS and electrically adjusted seats. The range goes even further than this with the SE, Elite and a Sporty options. In the market that the Vauxhall Insignia competes in; running costs are extremely important, and in particular, the diesel engines should provide good value for money.
