Q. If I pass my thoery test can I drive my Mum's car on a provisional licence with her in the car and car insurance in her name? Thanks.
A. You can drive her car as long as you have a provisional driving licence, are displaying L plates, your Mum is in the car and she has held her licence for more than 3 years.
Q. You can do your driving test when you are 17, does that mean you can learn at 16 on a provisional licence with 'L' plates? Also, you can get a provisional when you are 16, I went to apply and it says you have to be 16.
A. You must be 17 to hold a provisional driving licence and cannot drive on public roads until you are 17.
You can apply for a provisional licence 3 months before you turn 17 but it will not be valid until your 17th birthday.
There are 2 exceptions to this:
1. Mopeds with an engine capacity not exceeding 50cc and a maximum design speed not exceeding 50km/h
2. If you are currently getting Disability Living Allowance at the higher rate (mobility component)
Q. How many years NCD will I have when I renew this year? I have a question. This is probably obvious but here goes....
I am in the process of renewing my car insurance. My current documentation states I have 2 years no claims with them, so when I want to renew, and fill in online forms to get quotes, do I enter 3 years no claims, or still 2? I am confussssed!!!!
I have a renewal reminder but this still shows 2 years. So when does this ever go up to 3 then??
A. You need to enter 2 years no claims bonus if that is what is shown on your most recent renewal notice.
Your no claims bonus will increase to 3 years 12 months from the date of your most recent renewal notice providing you don't make a claim in that time.

You should report any accident, even minor ones, to your car insurance company.
Provide details of witnesses to your insurance company to verify that it was not your fault and you will not lose your no claims bonus.
